1. Develop an understanding of your organization;
2. Position Specification; A successful search begins with a well written summary of the scope and responsibilities of the position and the experience, personal attributes and educational requirements expected of the successful candidate. The Position Specification is written the first day of the search and you are provided a copy for your approval. The successful candidate will be matched against the personality and style of the immediate work team and the entire organization. Long term success is many times more dependent on a candidate's teamwork success than individual skill sets alone. 3. Research; Identifying the individuals who have an outstanding track record of success is accomplished through: a. Target organizations known to hire and develop outstanding achievers, including competitors, related industries and out of "the box " organizations if appropriate. b. Develop organization charts for the target organizations and match the individual responsibilities against the job specification. c. Draw upon industry knowledge, contacts and search experience to expand and focus the target list. d. Cross reference previous searches for an exceptional candidate. e. Contact successful industry trade associations to identify outstanding industry contributors. 4. Candidate Contact; Candidates are screened for the desired profile using a combination of the following,- referral, recommendation, telephone interview, data banks, outside research experts, resume, references, compensation, attitude, probable employment longevity and relocation requirements. The strongest candidates are interviewed in depth on the telephone to determine the best finalists. Personal interviews are scheduled with the finalists to determine the exceptional long term performers. 5. Candidate Presentation; On the date agreed upon at the start of the search (normally four to six weeks), the following will be provided,- complete candidate profile including, address, home and work phone numbers, academic accomplishments, professional history, professional accomplishments, organizations, references, compensation and a complete summary of the interviews. This professional presentation will rank the candidates according to relative strength. After review of the information, the finalists are determined. 6. Candidate Interviews; The finalists are scheduled for initial interviews and as the interview schedule narrows to the successful candidate, we are available to check references, credentials and to assist with both suggesting and negotiating the compensation package. 7. Follow-up; The unsuccessful candidates are contacted and thanked for considering the opportunity. The successful candidate is contacted along with his immediate supervisor to make sure the transition is smooth.
